What I Do
I build data infrastructure, interactive tools, and automated reporting systems that help organizations make better decisions - faster. With 15+ years working across research, consulting, and industry, I’ve learned that the most valuable data work rarely starts with data. It starts with understanding what people actually need, which is often different from what they think they need.
My work spans the full data lifecycle: from integrating messy, real-world datasets and building pipelines from scratch, to deploying Shiny apps and dashboards used daily. Most recently, I spent two years embedded with FEMA’s Hermit’s Peak Claims Office - building complete data infrastructure for the operations analysis team for a $5.45B program, including a workforce simulation app that compressed an estimated 3-year staffing timeline to 40 weeks.
How I Work
I thrive in environments where the infrastructure doesn’t exist yet - where the job is to figure out what’s needed, build it, and make sure people actually use it. I’m equally comfortable scoping a complex multi-month system and turning around a critical ad-hoc analysis in an afternoon.
I’m a strong advocate for open, reproducible data pipelines - work that doesn’t fall apart when someone else has to maintain it. I thoughtfully integrate generative AI tools throughout my workflow to accelerate delivery without sacrificing rigor, and I design solutions for the people who will actually use them rather than a hypothetical average user.
My background includes a PhD in Psychology, which shapes how I approach every engagement: I listen carefully, ask the questions behind the questions, and bring a particular curiosity to work that sits at the intersection of data and human wellbeing - health outcomes, workforce dynamics, and the factors that shape how people and organizations function.
What I’m Looking For
I’ve worked across academic research, federal consulting, nonprofit program evaluation, and industry - on both long-term W2 engagements and independent contract projects. That range has made me fast to orient and contribute, regardless of environment or domain.
I’m currently open to full-time data scientist roles and contract engagements, with particular interest in health, workforce, and operations contexts where data can drive meaningful impact.
